Once upon a time, there were fish living in the Thames River, and amongst them was a golden fish. Because the golden fish was different from everyone else, he had no confidence. So the golden fish hid during the day, and every night he would cry because he felt so lonely.

One night, the elder of the fish village heard the golden fish weeping and was unable to sleep. Annoyed, he got up to talk to the young golden fish. "If you come to find a rainbow, I'll make everyone like you." The golden fish looked up and asked, "How do I find it? I can't walk!" The old fish answered. "I'll let you walk from now on, but you have to come back before the  sunrise." Thus, the golden fish stepped on the ground with high expectations.

On his way to find the rainbow, the golden fish met various friends.

The fox,

Squirrel,

and Pigeon

They each had their own story. So, he needed to listen to them patiently and in turn, they also took a liking to him. The golden fish then realised ‘Oh, I should approach them first and listen to them. That’s how I can make friends.’ He felt more confident in himself.

The golden fish realised that he no longer needed to find a rainbow. And so he returned to the river before sunrise.

There, the golden fish found a tiny fish, looking lonely and sad. The golden fish said, "Don't be scared to talk to others! And get some confidence, you already have me as your friend" The tiny fish cheered up and smiled.

The elder fish was proud of the golden fish for realising on his own that he didn't need the rainbow to get others to like him.

Because the truth is... You can't see rainbows at night.
